Sophie Cunningham Opens Up About Joining Caitlin Clark at Indiana Fever: “I Will Be Her Sabrina Carpenter Any Day to Her Taylor Swift”

The Indiana Fever has been aggressive in reshaping their roster this year, including securing former Phoenix Mercury star Sophie Cunningham. And as she embraces her new journey with the Fever, she couldn’t be more excited to team up with rookie sensation Caitlin Clark.

During her latest appearance on Sports and Shenanigans, Cunningham shared her enthusiasm about playing alongside Clark, drawing a pop culture analogy.

“I will be her Sabrina Carpenter any day to her Taylor Swift. I am so excited for this,” Cunningham said. “I just think, honestly, she’s just a great human, too. She has a lot of pressure and a lot of eyes on her shoulders, and she handles it so gracefully. And she’s just a great human. So I’m just excited to be a part of something like that. And she passes the ball, which I enjoy.”

Sophie Cunningham, a versatile wing known for her toughness and three-point shooting, adds a veteran presence to Indiana’s young core. Her ability to stretch the floor and play with intensity on both ends makes her an ideal fit alongside Clark.

The franchise hasn’t won a championship since 2012, when Tamika Catchings led them to glory. However, now, with a mix of young talent and veteran presence, Indiana is emerging as a serious threat in the upcoming season.
