Kelsey Plum’s #10 Jersey Retired by University of Washington

Kelsey Plum just made history by becoming the first player of the University of Washington women’s basketball program to have her jersey retired by the school. Though It has been eight years since Plum has graduated from her college, yet it just feels like yesterday. During her four years with the Huskies, among many achievements, Plum also cemented her place in history, by becoming the NCAA’s all-time leading women’s scorer, a record she held until Caitlin Clark surpassed it in 2024.

On Saturday, as she had her jersey raised to the rafters, the Las Vegas Aces star shared pictures of this heartwarming moment on Instagram, captioned with, “UW forever my home 💜 I’m so grateful. Dream big, life will take you wherever you want to go.”

In a press release issued by the University of Washington, Kelsey Plum expressed her pride and gratitude for receiving the honor, reflecting on how her time at UW shaped her both on and off the court. She stated:

I’m forever proud to be a Husky and UW is a special place that fundamentally shaped me both as a basketball player and as a person. It means the world to me to receive this honor and to celebrate it with my family, friends, and alumni. It will be a great feeling to look up at the rafters and see my jersey alongside those that I’ve admired for so long.

However, despite this celebratory moment, fans have been curious about Plum’s absence from Unrivaled, the newly launched 3X3 women’s basketball league, which will help female hoopers earn during the WNBA off-season.

Why Kelsey Plum Isn’t Playing in Unrivaled?

Initially, Kelsey Plum was set to play for Laces BC in the Unrivaled League. However, the Aces star later withdrew her name, sharing in an Instagram story that she would no longer participate. Plum explained that she decided to take more time for herself this offseason, prioritizing rest and personal well-being after a demanding WNBA campaign last year.
