UConn basketball stars Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd share a strong bond on and off the court today, but their competitive journey began long ago at Team USA tryouts. In a recent interview, Fudd opened up about her first impression of Bueckers, admitting she was confident about outperforming Bueckers for the Point Guard position during tryouts. But Bueckers, never one to shy away from some playful banter, had a cheeky response when she heard what Fudd said.
It sounds like she was more worried about me. I don’t even really remember her in tryouts,” Bueckers quipped.”We were on the same team, but I didn’t even realize that we were fighting for the same position at that point. I was just trying to make the team as whatever. But then, as we made the team, we were like the first and second people off the bench, so we really just bonded and played extremely well off each other starting then. And then just grew as the years went by.
Since Fudd joined the Huskies, this dynamic duo has been unstoppable, securing back-to-back wins. With their playful banter adding to the excitement, fans are eager to see if they can lead UConn to the Championship this season.
