Wildfires Force NBA To Postpone Lakers-Spurs and Clippers-Hornets Games in Los Angeles

The NBA has made a massive decision to postpone the Los Angeles Lakers vs. San Antonio Spurs and the Charlotte Hornets vs. Los Angeles Clippers games in Los Angeles amid the devastating wildfires. Both Lakers and Clippers were all set to host their opponents. However, this disaster has forced the league to cancel the games, with no makeup dates so far.
The wildfires, which started on Tuesday, destroyed hundreds of homes and have reportedly burned over 17,000 acres of land, forcing approximately 130,000 people to evacuate their homes. In a recent update, the league revealed that:

The NBA and the Clippers and Lakers organizations have been in communication with local officials in Los Angeles and Inglewood about the ongoing situation in the Los Angeles area and the game postponements ensure no resources will be diverted from the wildfire response efforts.

Furthermore, the NBA has also announced a $1 Million donation to American Red Cross, World Central Kitchen and other organizations for immediate relief in these stressful times. However, the wildfires have also affected players and coaches of the league, with many expressing concerns for their families and homes.

The Spurs star, Chris Paul whose family resides in LA, has been struggling to focus on his work. His two kids and wife have moved to a hotel in a safer place till they are ready to pick up the pieces.

The fires have deeply affected Lakers coach JJ Redick, destroying the home he and his family were renting in Pacific Palisades and reducing countless belongings to ashes.
