Jason Whitlock Calls Out LeBron James Over Last-Minute 2025 NBA All-Star Game Withdrawal: “James Is a Cancer on the NBA”

LeBron James’ unexpected decision to sit out of the 2025 NBA All-Star Game at the last minute has sparked controversy, with sports commentator Jason Whitlock delivering a scathing critique. Whitlock, known for his outspoken takes on James, slammed the Lakers star for what he sees as a pattern of entitlement and self-centered behavior.

James, who cited lingering discomfort in his left foot and ankle, announced his decision to withdraw just 90 minutes before tip-off. On a recent episode of Fearless with Jason Whitlock, he accused James of prioritizing himself over the league, calling him a “cancer on the NBA.”

“James is a cancer on the NBA… Once he pivoted, won those titles, and became this spoiled, entitled person that we’re dealing with now,” Whitlock said. “That’s when I started, ‘There’s a problem here Houston, we have a problem, LeBron has pivoted’. He’s now this spoiled, entitled person. And the second half of his career has been about him being spoiled and entitled.”

However, Whitlock didn’t stop there; he accused LeBron of making everything about himself. He said, “LeBron instead, waits until the last second and says, ‘Hey, game day, I can’t play. My foot and ankle hurt. I’m going to sit here in street clothes. I’m going to show up to the team photo in street clothes. I gotta do what’s best for me. That’s LeBron at all times—what’s best for me!…The NBA is dead, domestically. LeBron James killed it. His mentality, his approach.”

While some defend his decision as necessary for his health, others see it as self-prioritization. Regardless, his last-minute withdrawal has only fueled further scrutiny of his role in shaping today’s NBA.

How is LeBron James performing in the 2024-25 NBA season?

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are currently ranked 5th in the Western Conference, having played 52 games with a 32-20 record. The Lakers’ star small forward is averaging 24.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game, playing a crucial role in the team’s success this season.
