Jimmy Butler, a cornerstone of the Miami Heat, finds himself at odds with the franchise. Tensions surfaced during the 2024 playoffs when Heat president Pat Riley reportedly told Butler to zip his mouth, shaking the foundation of their relationship. Since then, Butler has struggled to find his rhythm on the court and has openly expressed his dissatisfaction with the team. As per Butler, he has lost his joy for the game in Miami and is now seeking a trade this season.
In a recent appearance at CBS Sports’ Triple Threat, Butler’s ex-teammate, Victor Oladipo shared his perspective on the situation. Oladipo revealed that both parties aren’t handling the situation well, and he hopes Butler finds his joy for the game back.
“I think it takes two to tango. It’s just unfortunate that neither side is handling it the way they wanted to be. Jimmy is just doing what Jimmy does. I mean, I don’t think this a shocker to anyone who’s viewed his career and how he carried himself and how he’s carried himself… I just hope he finds his joy 1 and 2 end on good terms,” Oladipo said.

Adding to the discussion, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal recently expressed his support for Jimmy Butler during an appearance on NBA on TNT. O’Neal pointed out that while Butler may not be following the letter of the law, his behavior is a natural reaction when a player feels unappreciated by their team.
The Miami Heat have already suspended Butler twice, including a recent two-game suspension after he missed the team’s flight to Milwaukee. Previously, the team issued a seven-game suspension for his disregard of team rules and conduct deemed detrimental to the organization.
