There’s no doubt that Paige Bueckers will go into the history books as one of the best women hoopers to play in college basketball. However, Bueckers continues to make history, breaking another record as she becomes the fastest player in UConn Huskies’ program history to reach 2,000 career points in just 102 games. She surpasses WNBA star Maya Moore, who previously held the record by achieving the milestone in 108 games.
Yet, during a recent post-game interview with SNY, Bueckers spoke about the achievement with genuine humility and gratitude. Highlighting the invaluable contributions of her support system, including her coaches, teammates, and many more, she said:
“It takes a village. I did not get here by myself. It’s funny, I have my pilates instructor here, Brooke, who came to a game. It’s just people like my coach, teammates and everybody who’s invested in me and stayed with me. I had a tough journey, but it’s been a beautiful journey. I’ve seen so many people invest and do a lot for me. I just really want to reward their hard work because everybody sees the 2,000 points, but nobody sees the 2,000 days of hard work. So, it’s just a testimony to everybody who’s invested in me.”
However, will Paige Bueckers lead the Huskies to this season’s Championship title, remains a question that lingers in every fan’s mind. Currently ranked 1st in the Big East, the Huskies have played 20 matches so far in the ongoing 2024-25 NCAA season. Out of which the team has won 18 of them and lost 2. Leading her team with the most points and assists on average, Bueckers is currently averaging 19.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.
