The Los Angeles Lakers picked Bronny James, the eldest son of NBA legend LeBron James, in the 2024 NBA draft. However, in November, the Lakers assigned him to play for their G-League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, which sparked rumors that the team had dropped Bronny from their NBA roster. The Lakers quickly clarified that the 20-year-old remains part of their roster, silencing the speculation.
As the Lakers gear up to host the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, following the game’s postponement due to the Los Angeles wildfires, fans wonder: Will he play in this highly anticipated matchup? Bronny James last appeared on-court on January 7th, since then the 6-foot and 3-inch tall rookie has not played in the NBA or the G-League.
As per the reports, Bronny James is listed as questionable for the Lakers vs/s Spurs because of illness. Even during his last game against the Dallas Mavericks, LeBron Jr. stepped on the court only for a minute, in which he didn’t even record a single stat. Out of the 36 games, the Lakers have played so far, Bronny played in only 9 of them, during which he averaged 0.4 points, 0.1 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game.
While his stats are far from impressive, it’s important to note that his journey is just beginning and the young star has only made limited appearances. Despite limited action in the NBA, Bronny has also had opportunities to showcase his skills with the South Bay Lakers in the G League.
Bronny James’ performance in the G-League
In the G League with the South Bay Lakers, Bronny James has demonstrated flashes of his potential, showcasing a more consistent and promising performance compared to his limited NBA outings. The 20-year-old rookie is averaging 14.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.
