The Chicago Sky suffered a huge upset when they lost their star rookie, Angel Reese, for the remainder of the 2024 WNBA season due to an injury. The former LSU star played her first season in the WNBA this year, and fans expected nothing but extraordinary things from her. While Reese did not let her fans down, there were still some areas that could have been improved on her side. However, before she could make a comeback, Reese suffered a devastating injury in September.
Now, as the WNBA star’s off-season kicks off and many players are off to recover, Reese is back on the court to practice and improve for the upcoming Unrivaled—a new 3v3 women’s league set to start in January.
Angel Reese hits the Court to prepare for her return.
Before her season was cut short by a wrist injury, Reese was named the 2024 WNBA Peak Performer in rebounds after ending the season with a league-best 13.1 rebounds per game. This made her only the second player in Chicago Sky history to receive an award for rebounding. However, she was criticized by the fans for her finishing, as the rookie went for many contested layups rather than passing the ball, which resulted in blocks.
With the 2024 WNBA season over, the Chicago Sky rookie is back on the court to improve her shortcomings and come back as better than ever after being cleared to play. In a recent video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Angel Reese was seen working on her post-moves and layups.
Notably, as the video surfaced and with January right around the corner, fans are excited to see what Reese will bring to the table.
Next stop: Unrivaled
Unrivaled is a 3v3 basketball league, set to start in January 2025. This league was founded by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier as a way for the WNBA players to earn during the off-season so that they don’t have to look to play overseas. The league will have six teams, with each team made up of six players.
